A viewer 11 hours away in Texas has a sweet little 80+ grandma that lives near us. He sent me a message the other day asking if we might give her some fresh produce from our garden and I thought that would be a neat thing to do. It's so easy to plant an extra seed or two and have more than enough to give away to those in your community that can't garden anymore and you'll feel REALLY good if you do it.
If we're lucky, we'll all live long enough to where we'll be in the same situation. If we've created communities where it's a common thing to make sure our neighbors are taken care of, we're really laying the groundwork to be helped out when we need it, later on down the line ;-)
