First TOMATOES of the season! Yippie!

Picked a Better Boy (far left), a Rutgers, and several large red cherry tomatoes.
Also harvested a few ground cherries, zucchini, and a squash!

One of the red cherries grew... funky ;)

Ah.  Tomatoes.  Summer is here.  I also picked about 15 jalapeno peppers, a few sweet banana peppers and a handful of cucumbers to go with the many we've taken over the last few days.

Speaking of which, we also canned 5 quarts of cucumbers, turning them into pickle spears tonight.

  1. Nice early hall. Are you having any problems with blight or anything? Do you use any regular treatments?

    1. Blight on the tomatoes is very mild. BER on the squash real bad though. I'm going to address that today with a milk wash ;)

  2. Can you share your pickle recipe with me?

    Cheers

    1. Hi Louise,

We used a Mrs. Wages quick pack mix: http://store.mrswagesstore.com/mrswagdilpic.html

This was our first time to pickle, so we wanted something fairly fool proof. We're planning on brining a future batch, but were surprised to learn some of those can take up to six weeks.
